{"id":10179,"date":"2026-05-30T08:44:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-30T08:44:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/placedesnations.org\/index.php\/2026\/05\/30\/trump-in-excellent-health-after-annual-checkup-his-doctor-says\/"},"modified":"2026-05-30T08:44:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T08:44:23","slug":"trump-in-excellent-health-after-annual-checkup-his-doctor-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/placedesnations.org\/index.php\/2026\/05\/30\/trump-in-excellent-health-after-annual-checkup-his-doctor-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump in excellent health after annual checkup, his doctor says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Donald Trump&rsquo;s doctor says the US president is in \u00ab\u00a0excellent health\u00a0\u00bb following his annual medical exam.<\/p>\n<p>In a memo released by the White House on Friday, Capt Sean Barbabella said Trump, who turns 80 next month, has \u00ab\u00a0strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function\u00a0\u00bb and is \u00ab\u00a0fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Trump visited the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Tuesday for the exam, writing on his Truth Social platform afterwards that \u00ab\u00a0everything checked out perfectly\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>It is his third known check-up since returning to the White House last year.<\/p>\n<p>According to the memo, Trump &#8211; the oldest person to be inaugurated as US president &#8211; was \u00ab\u00a0within normal limits\u00a0\u00bb on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a common test of cognitive health, scoring a 30 out of 30.<\/p>\n<p>He had gained 14lb (6.3kg) since his medical exam in April 2025 and Barbabella said the president had been given guidance on diet, physical activity, and continued weight loss.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s cardiac age was also estimated to be approximately 14 years younger than his chronological age.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being.\u00a0\u00bb Barbabella wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the president&rsquo;s bruised hands and swollen legs caused concern and speculation over his health.<\/p>\n<p>In July it was revealed he had been diagnosed with a vein condition called chronic venous insufficiency, which occurs when leg veins fail to pump blood to the heart, causing it to pool in the lower limbs, which can then become swollen.<\/p>\n<p>While there remained some \u00ab\u00a0slight lower leg swelling\u00a0\u00bb, Barbabella noted in his memo that there was \u00ab\u00a0improvement from last year\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Bruising on Trump&rsquo;s hand was explained in the report as being \u00ab\u00a0consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshaking\u00a0\u00bb while taking aspirin for \u00ab\u00a0cardiovascular prevention\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Barbabella noted this bruising is \u00ab\u00a0a common and benign effect of aspirin therapy.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>His memo stated that, as well as aspirin, Trump is taking two cholesterol control drugs. He also remaind up to date on all appropriate preventive screenings and immunisations.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has previously talked about his aspirin usage, saying he has been taking larger than recommended doses for the last 25 years.<\/p>\n<p>He told the Wall Street Journal he takes 325mg of aspirin per day, rather than the 81mg dose sometimes recommended by doctors, because he does not \u00ab\u00a0want thick blood pouring through my heart\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also said he preferred not to do any form of regular exercise other than play golf.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0I just don&rsquo;t like it.
