{"id":9151,"date":"2025-09-09T15:30:01","date_gmt":"2025-09-09T15:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/placedesnations.org\/index.php\/2025\/09\/09\/deodorant-firm-sorry-after-itchy-burning-armpits-claims\/"},"modified":"2025-09-09T15:30:01","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T15:30:01","slug":"deodorant-firm-sorry-after-itchy-burning-armpits-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/placedesnations.org\/index.php\/2025\/09\/09\/deodorant-firm-sorry-after-itchy-burning-armpits-claims\/","title":{"rendered":"Deodorant firm sorry after &lsquo;itchy, burning armpits&rsquo; claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A well-known deodorant brand has apologised after some of its roll-on products reportedly left customers with itchy, burning armpits.<\/p>\n<p>Consumers of Mitchum&rsquo;s 48-hour roll-on anti-perspirant and deodorant complained on social media of having \u00ab\u00a0agonising weeping spots\u00a0\u00bb, redness and irritation after using the product.<\/p>\n<p>Posting on TikTok, one customer claimed she wanted to \u00ab\u00a0rip my armpits out\u00a0\u00bb, while another said her underarms felt like they were \u00ab\u00a0on fire\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>The company said it was \u00ab\u00a0truly sorry\u00a0\u00bb and explained how a change in the manufacturing process had affected 100ml batches sold in the UK, Ireland and South Africa. It said it was removing the affected products from shelves.<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of people have taken to sharing videos of their experience on TikTok.<\/p>\n<p>One woman said she was unable to sleep after using the roll-on because it left her with \u00ab\u00a0second degree chemical burns on my armpits\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Another described her underarm skin as developing a pink rash which had \u00ab\u00a0scabbed over\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>A third said she was left in agony because of \u00ab\u00a0weeping spots\u00a0\u00bb under her arm.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0I won&rsquo;t be using any Mitchum products again because I&rsquo;m not risking this happening again,\u00a0\u00bb she said.<\/p>\n<p>A Mitchum spokesperson said the brand was \u00ab\u00a0truly sorry some of our customers have experienced temporary irritation\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the company said: \u00ab\u00a0We want to reassure there has been no change to the formula of our products, but we have identified a change in the manufacturing process affecting one of our raw materials.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0This has impacted how the roll-on interacts with the skin of some users.\u00a0\u00bb<\/p>\n<p>It did not give details of what the change to its manufacturing process was but said the issue had since been resolved and it was working to \u00ab\u00a0remove the small amount of product\u00a0\u00bb left in shops.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0In addition, we have reverted to the original manufacturing process to ensure no other batches are affected,\u00a0\u00bb the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>Mitchum advised all those affected to contact its customer services team so it could \u00ab\u00a0make this right\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>The firm has issued a list of all the affected 100ml roll-on products.
